Course Description
Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome to Ms. Chen’s and Ms. Mares’ 3rd grade DLI class at Walnut Elementary!
It is an honor to be teaching Walnut Elementary’s third grade students this year. We have an exciting year ahead of us and we’re look forward to working collaboratively as we prepare your child for a lifetime of success!
Ms. Mares
This is my eighth year teaching, and all of them have been in 3rd, 4th grade and/or 5th grade. I graduated from Walnut High School, and went on to earn my degree in Liberal Studies coupled with a Multiple Subject Credential through Cal Poly Pomona. Shortly thereafter, I received my Master of Arts degree in Instructional Leadership from Pepperdine University. In addition, I have completed a Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) certificate from the University of California, Riverside.
My love of schooling began at Walnut High School. My experience within the Walnut Valley Unified School District (WVUSD) shaped the foundation for my future teaching career. From high school forward, learning and school became a positive and joyful experience with instructors who believed in me and my ability to perform. It is now my passion to give back to the students of WVUSD by providing students a rich learning environment and a high quality education. I am dedicated to working hard and achieving high academic excellence.
Ms. Chen
We strongly believe that the third grade students of rooms 15A and 16 use multiple intelligences, high-level thinking, inquiry, and discovery to acquire the state standards. All students will have the opportunity to explore areas of mathematics, physical and life sciences, history, literature, reading comprehension, and writing.
Your teachers,
Ms. Chen & Ms. Mares
